Abstract: Brownfields, geography and geographers in CEE countries - holistic approach. The occurrence of brownfields areas is related to fast development within industrial activity. Conventional labour-intense industrial activities were losing their significance and new highly-productive activities, based on educated labour force and higher added value, developed. De-industrialisation occurred. The external signs of negative de-industrialisation are mostly degradation of space, unemployment, social endangerment, increase of crime and marginalisation of the population in the affected areas. Based on the experience gained working on an international project ReTInA - Revitalization of Traditional Industrial Areas in South East Europe we came to the conclusion that the role of Geography and geographers is too inconsiderable and not in accordance with global trends of interdisciplinary approach to problem solving. We see the problem in an inadequate approach to solving revitalisations from top to bottom as well as in the ill-defined role of Geography and geographers. Findings, gained through multiyear work on the project are the following: the place and role of Geography and geographers solving the problem of brownfields need to be defined anew.

Abstract: Geographical aspects of contemporary aviation in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The paper analyzes the contemporary development of air transport in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Hence, the article will thoroughly analyze the air traffic in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and a number of other aspects will be more or less just indicated. In geographical approach to the analysis of development of air transport in Bosnia and Herzegovina, we start from the present situation in which to consider the appropriate indicators development through geographically relevant factors and then give an explication of geographical factors on the forms, levels and directions of development of air transport. The last five years created a new situation in the development of aviation in general, primarily caused by the economic crisis in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Air transportation network in Bosnia and Herzegovina should help the integration of the Bosnian-Herzegovinian national territory and its integration with the countries in the world. Size of the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina with its geographical conditions is very important underlying factor in the organization of air traffic. Bosna and Herzegovina is a small country. The concentration of the economy in the immediate areas is still less pronounced for the purposes of air traffic.

Abstract: Horizontal air temperature changes as a basis for the regional climate differentiation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. General natural environmental characteristics of Bosnia and Herzegovina and of some of its regions are defined on a full annual level primarily by the influences of different physical and geographical elements and factors whose modifying influence is defined by highly complex mutual relationships existing within a number of various spatial and temporal scales.
This paper presents the basic quantitative and qualitative characteristics of horizontal and altitudinal changes of air temperature as the basis for the spatial thermo-climatic differentiation of Bosnia and Herzegovina into its continental and Mediterranean regions. The conducted analyzes and the interpretation of general physical-conditions determining the spatial position of the aforementioned thermic limit have used a GIS spatial thermic model and the longitudinal and transverse thermic profiles as a basis for defining the horizontal temperature changes.

Abstract: The evaluation of achieving sustainable development in the town of Maribor. In 2001, the Municipality of Maribor already prepared a Report on the stateof environment with the goal to actively approach the realisation of the Local agenda 21 for Maribor. Conditions of that time didn’t allow a realisation of all planned objectives and measures, therefore the Municipality of Maribor decided to once more prepare the Municipal Environmental Protection Programme, based on the Reports on the state of environment in the Municipality of Maribor. For the period 2008 – 2015 the EPP included areas of integrated waste management, the system of safe healthy drinking water supply, air protection, protection against noise and climate change, sustainable traffic development, preserving of natural values and green areas and comprehensive environmental informing and awareness-raising. Desiring to improve the implementation of set objectives and to plan objectives and measures more realistically, in the preparation of the new EPP for the period after 2015, the emphasis in the paper is on the research of the connection of measures to achieve the objectives. This paper shows the evaluation methodology and the objective and measure achievements of the Municipality of Maribor that are recorded in the Municipal environmental protection programme for the period 2008 to 2013.

Abstract: Spatial distribution of natural tourist motives important for tourism development of Tuzla Canton. Tuzla Canton is situated in the northeastern part of Bosnia and Herzegovina and is one of the ten administrative and political communities of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The area has significant natural resources that are partly used in the development of tourism. This paper analyzes the spatial distribution of natural motives in Tuzla Canton, important for tourism development. The research of the area of Tuzla Canton considered qualitative and quantitative characteristics of the tourist values that are a goodbasis to create a new image of the area in tourism marketing, connecting tourist boards and introducing the increasing number of visitors to destinations that offer favorable conditions for rest, recreation, treatment and so on. The paper represents the theoretical and practical research of modern processes of tourism development. The aim is to percieve the possibilities of valorization of natural tourist motives as an important factor of development of the tourism industry of Tuzla Canton through systematic observation of the basic theoretical assumptions and analysis of the current situation. By identifying the entire area, the dominant natural tourism resources in the area of Tuzla Canton were presented, where the guidelines are given in the further development of tourism and the creation of the position of Tuzla Canton as a significant tourist destination.

Abstract: System of Indicators for Assessing Vulnerability of Regions on Future Development Challenges: The Case Of Development Regions in Slovenia. The European Commission in 2008 in its working document Regions 2020: An Assessment of Future Challenges for EU regions identified challenges that EU regions might face in the coming years. First and foremost, these are the challenges of globalization, demographic change, climate change and the challenges associated with energy supply. On the basis of the report, we designed a system of factors and indicators which could be used to evaluate the vulnerability of regions to future development challenges.
We tested this approach in the case of development regions in Slovenia. Results of the analysis show that the proposed approach is an appropriate professional basis for preparation of regional development programs.

Abstract: Map for tourists and foreigners in german, french, cyrillic and latin from 1909-contribution to the knowledge of the historical development of thematic cartography of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The areas around cities have always been of interest for hikers, travelers and adventurers. The development of tourism in Bosnia and Herzegovina occured slowly over time, (maybe it's continuing to be so even today) so the supporting facilities of tourist activities are very rare. Bosanskohercegovački Travel Club issued the first tourist map of the surrounding area of Sarajevo called "Map for tourists and foreigners," which was published in 1909, which is the main subject of this paper. The methods used in this paper are method of analysis of cartographic elements of the map, its composition, aesthetics, metricism et al., which show that these are tourist contents existed in the area of Sarajevo, and it (the content of the map) is thoroughly analyzed. Aim of this study is to introduce, if not the oldest, then one of the oldest, tourist maps of Sarajevo, which by its content and accuracy, indicates how then, just as today, the basic postulate tourist map can be a kind of cadastre, or base of spatial temporal data, which make predispositions, and the document for the development of tourism. On thematic tourist maps by selecting the appropriate means and methods of cartographic expression, through the application of the basic properties of the map, especially measurability, accuracy, integrity and aesthetics, it makes the map usable for tourist-users, and the means and methods of his stay in a destination, what Map for tourists and foreigners from 1909 certainly is.

Abstract: The education-fertility relationship in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Education and fertility are considered to be the fundamental processes for the continuance of society. This paper presents an overview of the relationship between women's education and fertility patterns in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Given the complicated political situation the complete results of a long-delayed Census in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which was held in 2013, are not yet published and therefore we addressed the data on the female population of the last relevant Census held in 1991. The analysis suggests that higher educational levels are associated with lower fertility rates. However, a substantial difference exists in the scale of the gap between upper and lower educational strata, as well as between urban and rural areas within the country. Results of this study also indicate that the role of schooling effects reproductive behavior of the female population in urban and rural areas of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Abstract: Change in land use in Haloze in the period 2000-2015 with special reference to wine-growing areas. Haloze is among demographically most vulnerable Slovenian regions. The unfavorable demographic and economic development is also reflected in the revised land use. The processes of change in land use over the past decade indicate extensification of agricultural production due to a significant process of greening and afforestation.
The article presents changes in land use between 2000 and 2015. Having in mind that Haloze, especially its eastern part, was already in the Middle Ages known for the best vineyard sites, a high share of winegrowing areas and good wine, we paid special attention to changes of winegrowing areas and utilization of wine-growing potential.

Abstract: Morphologic characteristics of the Una-Sana Canton relief as spatial planning factor In preparation of spatial plans a significant place belongs to geomorphologic characteristics of the given area. With analysis of general geomorphologic characteristics, the particular relief units and their elements are distinguished, by which global and specific characteristics of relief may be noticed. This reflects on the level of complexity of the analysis of geomorphologic features in the spatial plan, and with proper evaluation of macro-relief characteristics of the observed area, a high level of valorisation of their values is achieved. For the purpose of analysis of morphological features of the Una-Sana Canton relief, the following quantitative geomorphologic methods are applied: analysis of hypsometric relations, analysis of slopes, analysis of vertical diversity of relief and analysis of expositions. Results of the analysis indicate to a high level of dependence of distribution of settlements and economic activities on morphologic features of relief, as well as on futher opportunities of spatial development of the Canton.

Abstract: Contemporary changes in cropping pattern of Central Bosnia Canton. In the last few decades, concepts such as concentration of crops, diversification of crops and crop combinations have attracted the attention of many agricultural geographers in the world, but not in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Therefore, this paper, on the example of the Central Bosnia Canton, analyzes in detail the above concepts of cropping pattern in the period 2004-2014. Cropping pattern was rated in order to better understand the proportion of different crops within the study area. Results of the paper will certainly help in understanding the unevenness of the spatial distribution of crops and the importance of certain crops in making appropriate strategies and defining the production of certain crops in the Central Bosnia Canton.

Abstract: Tourist development of Bjelasnica mountain-problems and perspective The subject of paper is Bjelasnica mountain, or problems and perspective of tourism development. This area is rich of rarity natural geographical and socially geographical elements, which contribute to its uniqueness. Natural geographical specificity of the study area is related to its component natural geographical elements such as: relief, climate and hydrogeographic and biogeographic characteristics, which together with anthropogenic tourist elements form the basis for satisfying of complex needs of tourism. Seasonality of tourism movement is expressed on Bjelasnica, which is evident in the winter period of the year. As a normal consequence of the increasing tourist demand in the winter period, arranging ski areas gains on special importance in the process of tourism planning and mountain areas. Ski slopes and lifts are the essence of winter offer and their functioning must be a prerequisite for the finalization of other elements of the offer such as accommodation, food and recreation. Also, if you want to achieve main purpose of the ski centers, and this is primarily recreation and psycho-physical rest, it needs to take care of the capacity of space that will be incorporated in the work.
