Abstract
AND HERZEGOVINA. This area covers about a fiftypercent of communes and setllements and two fifths of population of Bosnia and Herzegovina lives in that region. The population increase in this part of the Republic during the 1948-81. penod was more rapid than in other parts of the Republic and Republjc itself due to two exreme trends: depopulation in the relatively broad area and uncontrolled population in the much smaller Sarajevo – Zenica valley.
